The University of Maribor, Faculty of Tourism, in partnership with regional and international stakeholders, is organising the international scientific and professional conference Wine and Heritage: Tourism Between Tradition and Innovation (TEDU26), to be held in Brežice, Slovenia, from 23 to 25 September 2026.
The conference explores the relationship between wine, heritage and tourism in a contemporary context, where traditional practices increasingly intersect with digital tools and changing visitor expectations. Wine is understood as part of cultural identity and living heritage that shapes places, communities and tourism experiences.
Key topics focus on destination identity, heritage preservation and innovative approaches to wine tourism, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation and sustainability.
The programme includes keynote lectures by internationally recognised experts Dr. Marianna Sigala and Dr. Emanuela Panke, as well as thematic sessions bringing together researchers and practitioners in tourism, culture and heritage.
The conference is organised in cooperation with the following partners: ZPTM Brežice, Posavje Museum Brežice, Crafts College Zagreb – Adult Education Institution, Municipality of Pušća, and the Zagreb County Tourist Board, alongside international stakeholders from Slovenia and Croatia. The project is co-funded by the Interreg Slovenia–Croatia programme (InterWine project).
Abstract submissions are open until 31 May 2026. Participation is free of charge, with mandatory registration.
